Bespoke Picture Framing in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire & beyond.
Frames made for the things that matter
At Salix Fine Framing, every frame is designed specifically for the piece it is made to house
From original artwork and fine art prints to photographs, textiles, memorabilia and objects, I provide bespoke picture framing in Derbyshire, combining traditional craftsmanship with conservation-quality materials and a thoughtful, personal approach.
My workshop is based at The Shirebrook Business Centre, visits are by appointment. If visiting the workshop isn't convenient, I can also visit you at home, bringing a selection of framing options with me. For larger, valuable or delicate pieces, collection and delivery can also be arranged.
There is never any obligation to proceed.
A framing service built around you
Whether you have a treasured family photograph, an important piece of artwork, a collection of memorabilia or something rather more unusual, I would be happy to discuss your requirements.
Finding time to visit a traditional framing shop can be difficult if you're working during the day. Many framing businesses operate conventional opening hours, making it necessary to take time off work simply to choose a frame.
Salix Fine Framing doesn't have fixed public opening hours. Workshop visits are by appointment, allowing me to arrange a time around your availability — including evenings and weekends.
If you'd prefer, I can also visit you at home. The aim is simple: your framing appointment should fit around your life, rather than the other way around.
Collection and delivery can also be arranged.
There is no obligation to proceed and every project is discussed individually.
A more personal way to choose your frame
Choosing the right frame should never feel rushed or impersonal.
In a busy framing shop, you may find yourself making decisions while other customers are waiting, with a limited amount of time to consider the many combinations of mouldings, mountboards and glazing available. You may also be left to make those choices largely on your own.
Some artwork is also deeply personal. You may simply prefer not to discuss or display it in a public environment.
At Salix Fine Framing, you have the time, privacy and personal attention to make your choices without pressure. We can look carefully at your artwork, discuss the options together and consider how the finished piece will work within its surroundings.
Visit my workshop by appointment and take your time exploring the possibilities in a relaxed, private setting.
Prefer to choose at home? I can visit you with a selection of appropriate framing options, allowing us to consider your artwork alongside your interior, lighting and furnishings.
The aim is simple: to make choosing your frame an enjoyable part of the process, rather than a decision you have to make quickly at a busy counter.
The only Trusted Trader picture framer in Derbyshire
Salix Fine Framing is currently the only picture framing business listed in Derbyshire County Council's Trusted Trader Picture Framing category.
The category was introduced by Derbyshire County Council following a request from Salix Fine Framing, as picture framing was not previously represented within the scheme.
The Trusted Trader scheme, operated by Derbyshire County Council, provides customers with additional reassurance when choosing a local business.
Trusted, discreet and fully insured
When you entrust someone with an original painting, family photograph, valuable print or treasured piece of memorabilia, confidence matters.
Client confidentiality is of the utmost importance. Your artwork, personal information and the details of your project are treated with complete discretion.
I also hold full public liability insurance, and customers' artwork and possessions are insured whilst in my care, providing reassurance throughout the framing process.
Bespoke framing for artwork, photography and more
Every piece presents its own challenges and opportunities.
I frame:
-
Original artwork and fine art
-
Prints and limited editions
-
Photographs
-
Posters
-
Textiles and fabric pieces
-
Sporting and other memorabilia
-
Certificates and documents
-
Three-dimensional objects
-
Natural history and museum-quality items
Where appropriate, I can also incorporate conservation-grade materials, specialist mounting techniques and UV-protective or non-reflective glazing to help protect your piece for the future.
The aim isn't simply to put something in a frame. It is to create a considered piece of presentation that complements the artwork while providing the protection it needs.
Conservation and specialist framing
Some objects need more than a conventional frame.
For artwork, historic pieces, textiles, photographs, memorabilia and other items where long-term preservation matters, I can provide conservation framing using archival and conservation-grade materials.
Materials and techniques can be selected to minimise potential damage from light, acidity, pollutants and contact with unsuitable materials.
For particularly unusual or delicate pieces, I can design bespoke mounting and framing solutions rather than relying on standard framing methods.
Bespoke picture framing with colour-matched painted frames
Sometimes the perfect frame profile exists — just not in quite the right colour.
Rather than compromise, I can use a beautifully crafted bare-wood moulding and have it professionally finished in a colour chosen specifically for your artwork and interior.
I offer colour-matched painted picture frames using premium paints from respected British heritage manufacturers including Farrow & Ball, Mylands and Little Greene.
With access to their extensive colour palettes, a suitable wooden moulding can be finished in a shade chosen to complement your walls, furnishings or artwork — from understated architectural neutrals to deep traditional greens and distinctive contemporary colours.
This allows the frame to become part of the interior rather than simply something placed around the artwork.
A custom painted frame can provide:
-
A frame that complements your wall colour and furnishings
-
A finish that enhances rather than competes with the artwork
-
A genuinely bespoke result designed specifically for your home
-
Greater freedom than choosing only from pre-finished mouldings
For clients looking for high-quality bespoke picture framing in Derbyshire, this is where craftsmanship, colour and interior design come together.
Bespoke mirrors
Alongside picture framing, I create custom-made mirrors to order.
Mirrors can be designed in a wide range of sizes, shapes and styles, with the frame selected or finished to complement your interior.
A bespoke mirror can be created as a statement piece in its own right or designed to sit naturally alongside existing artwork and furnishings.
